Tax Return Wrangler, Budget Guru & Master of Spreadsheets.
Aside from those, my past professional experience includes grant writing, departmental & project budget management, and helping manage federal & state grant programs.
In 2014 I participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, discovered my knack for filling out those pesky tax forms and have been preparing my own personal & business forms ever since (along with helping friends & family).
In 2022 I couldn’t take any more of the highway robbery that was being done by the big tax prep companies and created Baer Mountain Financial Services to offer my knowledge, experience & help without it costing an arm & a leg (or more).
I’m an Authorized IRS E-File Provider & Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor.

yes, I do know how to spell bear (har har).
When I first took my husband to visit some friends in CA, one of them jokingly asked him if he wrestled bears being from Idaho (naturally). He said no, but he did in fact wrestle a buck one time…that's another story though.
Bear Mountain seemed like a fitting way to incorporate the person and place that means so much to me. To make it even more personal I incorporated a splash of German heritage, and it became Baer Mountain Financial Services.
In my personal finances I follow Dave Ramsey’s principles, and I know what it feels like to be stuck on that merry-go-round of debt and living paycheck-to-paycheck. My rock-bottom moment was checking my bank account one payday in my early 20's and seeing a negative balance. No money for food, bills or gas. I had gotten caught in the paycheck-advance hamster wheel trap and found myself paying the “stupid tax” (as Dave Ramsey aptly calls it).
I made myself a promise that day that I would never find myself in that position again and I’ve worked hard to keep it that way. I’ve clawed my way out of credit card debt a few times over since then and dragged my credit score along with me up from 524 to 765. I’m also working towards becoming a certified budget coach to help others become financially free.
